A sajtószabadság május 3-ai világnapja alkalmából az Európai Bizottság hivatalosan is meghirdeti a 2010-es Lorenzo Natali-díjat. Ez a nemzetközi díj, amelyet a Bizottság a Riporterek Határok Nélkül szervezettel és a Lapok és Lapkiadók Világszövetségével közösen ítél oda, a fejlesztés, a demokrácia, és az emberi jogok témájában született legkiemelkedőbb újságírói munkákat részesíti elismerésben.

Az Európai Unió a Süddeutsche Zeitung nevű német napilapnak ítélte oda a megkülönböztetés problémájának tudatosításáért járó „A sokszínűségért. A diszkrimináció ellen.” díjat. A második helyen Balla István, a FigyelőNet újságírója végzett a „Mit látnak Budapestből a cigány gyerekek” című cikkel. Egy Finnországból érkezett cikk pedig különdíjban részesült a szegénység és a diszkrimináció közötti összefüggés kihangsúlyozásáért.
